Archie’s been asking to camp in the backyard this summer. You’ve inspired me, once we dip below 90’s here, we’re doing it!

I’ve added all those books to my TBR list. That print making class 😍😍😍

I HAVE to make my way to Victoria. That picture is so beautiful.

So incredibly hyped for you being in that New Yorker article. What an amazing moment 🌟

Backyard camping is honestly the best. I mean: clean bathrooms, a full kitchen, and wifi - lol!

Yay! I'm secretly over here just slowly trying to convince everyone to visit the island.

Thank you so much Kaitlyn, it means a lot. So, so grateful for your support. 🌼✨😘

I am so jealous that you guys can even imagine a scenario in which backyard camping is an option. For us in Memphis, the mosquitos would just eat us alive.

The idea of a Victoria retreat is looking more and more appealing by the day! 😍😍😍

I was thinking that too about here in VA, haha! Not enough citronella candles in the world to deal with the swarm here in the evenings.

Ohhhh man, those crazy mosquitos! Haha, glad to hear my plan is working. I'm playing the long game of slowly selling the island to everyone. 🤣🏝️

Haha so fair! That is one benefit of the dryness over here.

Absolutely LOVED ‘Carrie Soto Is Back’ (read it in 48 hrs) and about halfway through ‘We Were The Universe,’ really enjoying the unique voice and style!! Going to have to try your third rec since it seems like we have very similar taste in fiction ☺️ happy to hear your Boring Girl Summer is off to a delicious start xx

I love the prints! So pretty. I have been thinking of trying linoprint printmaking, have you tried that? It looks tricky but I love a challenge.

I really like the share of the Dali florals too, they're quite different from his other works.

Congrats on the New Yorker link!

So cool, I've never seen linoprint before! Definitely looks like it requires some skill.

Thanks so much Sonya, it means a lot. 🩷 Have a great weekend! xx

I see you, 7:02 😉

You’ve inspired me to plan a backyard camping sleepover with my nephew this summer. Such fun!

Awww that sounds perfect! ⛺️

Haha, if 7:02 is a special number, I landed on it by accident. The post was actually scheduled for 7:00, but the substack angels must have delayed it...🪽🪽

Have a lovely weekend Natalie!

Congrats on the mention in New Yorker! You captured what so many of us are feeling this summer and it must feel so good to know it resonated with so many people.

Lots of fun links today! The monotype class looks super fun. I totally want to hear more about your backyard camping set up! Have you slept out there yet, or is it more of a hanging spot? I bet it's such a nice reading spot.

Happy (early) Canada Day! I'm looking forward to the pool and grilling out on July 4th here, plus going mushroom foraging next weekend. Have a great weekend :)

Thank you so much Gabriella! 🩷 So grateful for your support and encouragement.

Oh yes, I've slept out there. I actually sleep really well with the fresh air and quietness.

Yayyy, Happy 4th of July! So cool, I've always wanted to go mushroom foraging 🍄‍🟫. Maybe I should look for a class to join out here. Thanks for the idea. Excited to hear how it goes for you. xx

Shrubs sound really lovely and refreshing. I'll have to try that. I also have my fair share of gut issues and I like the idea you're going to try out. Today's my 10th wedding anniversary so we'll be celebrating with dinner out tonight. I've been making more salads with fruit at home so far this season.

First off, HUGE congrats on The New Yorker shout-out. That's incredible and must be celebrated (perhaps with another fudgey cake?) Second, thanks for putting The Cook on my radar! I've been devouring both cooking memoirs and novels centered in France lately, so this seems like the perfect combination.

I recently made leeks from the farmers market with sauce gribiche from a dog-eared Food & Wine article I've had since... I don't even know how long... and devoured it. I went out and bought cod to slather it over the next day because I couldn't bring myself to toss the leftovers!
